NEW DELHI, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi won 2018 Pritzker Architecture Prize for his pioneering work in the field of architecture.
The 90-year-old is being known for his innovative work of designing low-cost housing in a career spanning over seven decades.
The Pritzker Prize is regarded as architecture's equivalent to the Nobel Prize and Doshi is the first Indian to have won this award.
Doshi studied in Mumbai before moving to Paris in 1950s to work closely with Le Corbusier, a pioneer in modern architecture.
The veteran architect will be awarded 100,000 U.S. dollars as part of prize during a ceremony in Toronto in May this year.
