ISLAMABAD, May 19 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were killed and four others injured in a road accident in Shikarpur district of Pakistan's southern Sindh province on Sunday, local media and police said.
According to the reports, the accident took place when two cars coming from the opposite direction had a head-on collision with each other in Shikarpur.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the district hospital of the area.
At least four children are among the deceased while two of the injured are in critical condition, police said.
Police said all the deceased and injured belonged to two different families who were traveling to attend some functions.
Police registered a case against the drivers of the two vehicles for overspeeding and rash driving which caused the accident.
