HELSINKI, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Finnish President Sauli Niinisto said on Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is to visit Finland in late August.
Niinisto met leading editors-in-chief of Finnish media on Thursday and told them about the visit. He described his upcoming meeting with Putin as "fairly ordinary".
He noted that the two presidents have met annually, either in Russia or in Finland. "Generally, bilateral matters have been discussed and additionally there has been a segment on international politics, and that will be fairly large now," Niinisto said.
Niinisto gave no date of the visit. Finnish evening paper Ilta-Sanomat later reported that the meeting would take place on Aug. 22. The presidential office neither confirmed nor denied the information when contacted by Finnish media.
