BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese film "Jade Dynasty" topped the Chinese mainland box office on Friday, traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, the China Movie Data Information Network said Saturday.
"Jade Dynasty," a fantasy movie directed by renowned Chinese director Cheng Xiaodong, tells a story of a brave young boy who strived to change his own destiny.
The film raked in 142.22 million yuan (about 20.12 million U.S. dollars), accounting for nearly 40 percent of the daily total.
Coming in second was "The Fist of Blue Sapphire," which grossed over 72.89 million yuan on its debut day Friday.
"The Last Wish" ranked third with ticket sale of 57.65 million yuan on its second day of screening.
