SHANGHAI, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese research institutes in the 5G field released a report on Tuesday, calling for the enhancement of international cooperation on 5G security.
The report was released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, a professional research institute in China's 5G field.
The report called for accelerating the promotion of international standards for 5G security and stepping up the formation of 5G security solutions covering multiple application scenarios.
It also called for an international 5G security evaluation and certification system to promote mutual trust and recognition.
Meanwhile, the report also advocated strengthening the upstream and downstream cooperation of the industry chain, boosting confidence in 5G security and creating an open, fair, transparent and non-discriminatory market environment for the global development of the 5G industry.
According to statistics from the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), as of October 2019, 348 telecom operators in 119 countries and regions around the world had invested in 5G, of which 61 had already launched commercial 5G services.
